Everyone likes free stuff, and do you know that as a member of staff at Sheffield, you are entitled to download a copy of Microsoft Office 2016 for free onto your own personal computer for work purposes?

If you go to this page, scroll down to where it says MS Office for Windows and click the blue button which says Request MS Office for Windows. You will be sent an email with instructions on how to download and the registration codes. You have a choice of downloading Office 2010, 2013 or 2016 (we’re using 2010 on the managed desktops at the moment).

Alternatively you can also get a subscription to Office 365 – this allows you to install Office on 5 different devices and also have access to the full version of Microsoft Office on your mobile phone or tablet (iphone/ipad, Android or Windows phone only). To do this, go to this page and click on Free Microsoft Office for Students. Don’t worry that it’s for students, we’re also eligible with our staff emails. On the next page, click Get started for Free, enter your email address and then find the link in your email. Once you have registered, you will be able to install Microsoft Office on different devices. Please note that your Office 365 subscription only works while you continue to have a functioning University email address, so you might want to consider which of the two options above are better for you.
